Across many parts of Africa, countless women are educated, capable, and hardworking, yet remain economically vulnerable because they have limited access to career exposure, practical workforce preparation, professional networks, and information about evolving opportunities.
For many women, life responsibilities such as caregiving, marriage, family obligations, or financial pressures can interrupt professional development for years. Founder
Anita Ankeli
Anita Ankeli is a workforce development and human resources professional with experience spanning people operations, hiring support, workforce coordination, organisational administration, instructional design, and professional readiness development.
Her work has consistently focused on employability, workplace preparedness, career development, and helping individuals build the confidence and capability needed to navigate modern work environments.
The idea behind Africa Built By Her is deeply personal as well as professional.
It was shaped by long-term observation of how limited access to exposure, guidance, and structured opportunity can affect the economic choices available to many African women over time. These limitations are often not about ability, but about preparation, information, and access.
This mission is also tied to her family story.
Africa Built By Her and the Anita and Alice Foundation for Women Development were inspired by both Anita and her mother, Alice. The foundation was named in honour of them both, reflecting a shared legacy and a commitment to creating better access to opportunity, preparedness, and professional growth for women across generations.
What began as a personal observation has evolved into a structured commitment to helping women build practical skills, workplace readiness, and long-term economic confidence across Africa.
